The Safety-Ease Lid Assist is attached to the rim of the piano as shown in the photo. It will not damage any part of the piano, and it helps prevent the lid from falling if your hand ever slips off while opening or closing the lid.
Also, the lid assist makes it easy to lift the lid of the piano with one finger!
